【Speaker Profile】

Richard Tsai is a Professor at the Department of Mathematics and the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Science, the University of Texas at Austin. 

He received his B.Sc. from the National Taiwan University in 1995 and later pursued his PhD in mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2002. His current research interests include Deep Learning theory and scientific machine learning,  multiscale modeling and computation, inverse source problems, interface problems, robotic path planning problems involving visibility optimization,  image processing, machine learning and scientific computing.

His current research spans the entire process of computational problem-solving, from developing algorithms to model phenomena from processing the algorithms on high-performance computers.
